Signs To Tell Your Baby That Its Time To Sleep
Putting a baby to sleep was made possible by Pavlov’s dogs. If you have heard of Ivan Pavlov and his dogs experiment then you know and appreciate the conditioning benefits. The dog’s were taught that when the bell rang it was a cue to eat. The dogs overtime got used to timetable and associated a bell ring with food. Easy, right? The dogs knew that it was time to feed each the bell rang and as such they would go over the place where they were served the food. But, in this article the talk is not about dog rather babies.
The concept could be the same though here we know that the baby is not a dog but perhaps you should condition him similarly. Pick your baby’s sleeping cues by following your baby’s routine.
The sleeping cues are helpful to your baby as you will know the sleeping time and the behavior that should tell your it is time to sleep.
This is a good concept I’m sure. It is however not easy as written. For this idea to work it is a must you consider some aspects.
First you must have a schedule for the baby everyday. Because when you have a timetable which you follow consistently then it will be easy to predict what is coming next. If you constantly follow the steps daily for each night the baby should be able to predict and will pick what follows what and know your cue for time to sleep.
Sometime you want to help the baby to settle so she can sleep on her own.
If you decide to sway the baby ensure it is gentle and consistent.
When the baby is being swayed it is assisted to sleep by some rhythms. The swaying if needed should be gentle for the baby’s relaxation because if it is done fast the baby will think it’s a cue to play.
The next schedule that should be implement is the parents. Bathing time is one such cue. Children pick schedules faster so if you start it by bathing followed by activities geared towards bedtime by the time you tell the child to go to sleep it will be easy.
Since conception when the baby is in the womb they grow accustomed to the womb. No baby can come to the world with a lot of stimuli as it is feared there will be an issue of insecurity. For a baby to sleep properly the transition from the womb to the world should be gentle and smooth.
